Privacy Policy
Effective September 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how CLG Technologies, LLC (“CLG,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use Career Launch Group, Base Camp, and related services (the “Service”).
We designed the Service to minimize the personal information we collect and to keep each user's data private to them. This policy describes our practices and your rights.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information handled through our identity provider (for example, email address and a display name).
- Optional profile details you choose to enter (such as grade/year in school, interests, a target career, and other fields you add to speed up the tools).
- Content you submit to the AI coach or tools, and assessment results you choose to upload.
- Support requests and other communications you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical and usage data needed to operate the Service (for example, log data, device/browser type, and approximate region inferred from your request).
- Your lesson progress and completion status.
- A small number of essential cookies (see our Cookie Policy).
Payment information
If you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full payment-card number; Stripe handles card data under its own terms and security standards. We receive limited information such as subscription status and billing period.
2. How the AI coach handles your information (privacy-first)
The AI coach and tools are designed to limit personal data. Before your messages are stored or sent to the AI model, we run them through an automated process that removes direct identifiers (such as names, emails, and ID numbers). An AI safety guardrail provides an additional backstop.
The coach model itself does not receive a database of your identity; it works within your own private session. Assessment uploads (for example, a YouScience report) are processed to produce a summary and the raw file is not retained by us — only a privacy-scrubbed summary is saved to your own profile, which you can view or delete at any time.
You can clear your coach memory (chat history and saved interest profile) at any time from within the Service.
3. How we use information
- to provide, operate, secure, and improve the Service;
- to personalize your experience (for example, pre-filling tool forms and tailoring coaching to what you share);
- to process subscriptions and payments;
- to communicate with you about your account, support, and important changes;
- to detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
- to comply with legal obligations.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only as follows:
- Service providers (processors) who help us run the Service, under contracts that limit their use of your data — see the list below;
- For a linked parent/guardian: progress and profile information for a student who has been linked to that guardian's account;
- Legal and safety: when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, or CLG; and
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
5. Service providers / subprocessors
Key third parties that process data on our behalf or as part of the Service include:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting, authentication, and database storage (primarily in the U.S., region us-east-1).
- Amazon Bedrock (AWS) — the AI models that power the coach and tools. We configure the model route so your inputs are not used to train the underlying models.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- O*NET Web Services (U.S. Department of Labor) — the interest profiler assessment.
- YouScience® — optional aptitude testing, purchased separately by you through YouScience under its own terms and privacy policy.
6. Automated decision-making (AI)
The AI coach and tools use your inputs to generate personalized suggestions (for example, careers or study paths that might fit you). These are informational suggestions to help you think — they are not automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you, and a human (you, with parents/mentors/counselors) always makes the actual choices. We do not use your inputs to train the underlying AI models. If you are in the EU/UK and have questions about automated processing under GDPR Article 22, contact us.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can delete your coach memory at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data as described below. Backups are retained for a limited period and then expire.
8. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls that partition each user's data to their own account, server-side handling of secrets, automated PII scrubbing before storage, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International users and data transfers
We operate the Service from the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the U.S. If you access the Service from outside the U.S. (including the EU/UK, Brazil, and elsewhere), you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. Your privacy rights
Everyone
You can access and update much of your profile within the Service, clear your coach memory, and contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information.
U.S. state privacy rights (including California/CPRA)
Depending on your state, you may have rights to know, access, correct, and delete personal information, and to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” and certain profiling. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
EU/UK (GDPR) and Brazil (LGPD)
If you are in these regions, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Our legal bases for processing include performance of our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, and compliance with law. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
How to exercise your rights
To exercise any right, contact us at Support@careerlaunchgroup.com. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law.
11. Children and students
The Service is intended for learners from about 8th grade upward, and users must be at least 13. We take extra care with information about minors. Please see our separate Children's & Student Privacy notice for details about parental consent, what the AI coach does and does not see, and how school/education contexts are handled.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Please review it periodically.
